Every feature we build, every decision we make, starts with a simple question: "Will this help families like ours thrive?"
Our Story
It started with a simple request from my step-daughter: “Grandpa, can you help me figure out a way to track Oliver’s chores and maybe motivate him a little?”
Like many parents, she was juggling the daily challenge of getting her son to complete his responsibilities while trying to make it feel less like a battle and more like a partnership. Her first instinct was to explore shared calendars—a practical solution, but something felt missing.
As I thought about it, I realized we had an opportunity staring us right in the face. Here was our family—Mom, Dad, Oliver, Grandma, and Grandpa—each with our own devices that we check throughout the day. Why settle for a static calendar when we could create something that brings the whole family together around shared goals?
I dove into researching existing chore apps, expecting to find the perfect solution. What I discovered instead was a market full of compromises. Some apps were too basic, offering little more than a digital checklist. Others were overwhelmingly complex, turning simple household tasks into complicated project management systems. Many came with hefty price tags that seemed out of reach for everyday families just trying to teach responsibility and celebrate small wins.
The next morning, I woke up with “a bee in my bonnet.” After 30 years in information technology, I’d built systems and solved problems for countless organizations. But I’d never created something that came straight from my heart—something for the people I love most.
The vision was clear: what if we could create an app that felt as intuitive and delightful as the Apple ecosystem we all loved? Something that would help Oliver learn responsibility while bringing our family closer together? An app that celebrated progress, fostered communication, and made the ordinary moments of family life a little more special?
That’s how OllieChore was born—named after the grandson who inspired it all.
Our philosophy is simple: start with what families actually need, keep it affordable for real households, and grow thoughtfully based on feedback from the people who matter most—families like ours. We’re not trying to revolutionize the world; we’re just trying to make daily life a little smoother, a little more connected, and a lot more joyful.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not really about the chores. It’s about raising children who feel capable, families who communicate openly, and grandparents who get to be part of the everyday magic of watching the next generation grow.
Every feature we build, every decision we make, starts with a simple question: “Will this help families like ours thrive?”
That’s our story. That’s our promise. That’s OllieChore.
